Through a unique partnership with HLS Healthcare, Hansen Yuncken & Scalabrini Aged Care Village – a residential aged care community located in New South Wales is setting a new standard when it comes to the use of technology in aged care settings.
Over a period of four years, product specialists and executive management at HLS Healthcare have been working closely with Scalabrini to design, implement and commission a large-scale living assistance project that will revolutionise how residents are looked after in aged care facilities.
Key Personnel and Project Specifics:
Todd MacRae, NSW Product Specialist at HLS Healthcare, Nick Stehr, Managing Director at HLS Healthcare, Hansen Yuncken and Scalabrini, worked collaboratively over the lifetime of the project, which is now fully deployed.
What started as a general inquiry from Hansen Yuncken developed into the full-scale implementation of both Guldmann Ceiling Hoist and Elsi Smart Floor technologies. Once the proof of concept was made clear with a prototype room installation of the two systems, the full rollout of 127 rooms was approved and executed between April 2017 and February 2018.
The overall success of this project is notable for many reasons, including:
Guldmann Ceiling Hoists were chosen after a comprehensive evaluation of competitive ceiling hoist solutions, reinforcing HLS Healthcare’s commitment to supplying only the highest quality aged care technology.
The final decision to choose HLS Healthcare and the Guldmann and Elsi product lines were not based solely on price. All project factors were considered, including, industry-leading technology, superior aesthetic design, ease of installation, product reliability, training available and ongoing support.
Clinical user training has been held on-site at the facility, carried out by Todd MacRae and supported by others within the HLS Healthcare organisation. This will help to ensure that carers and other facility staff are educated about how to make the best use of this innovative technology.
Since having completed the final stage of construction for all 127 rooms, Scalabrini has earned multiple international and domestic awards and is now enjoying positive press from major news outlets, including Channel 9.
Other Project Implications:
The significance of the Scalabrini Village Drummoyne project cannot be overstated, as it is one of the largest of its kind. By taking advantage of cutting edge technology as part of the very construction of its residents’ living areas, it raises the bar for what aged care community residents expect in an aged care provider.
It is clear that this project is helping to further the Scalabrini vision: to offer the best in class technology-assisted aged care using the most advanced solutions available anywhere. This special project is resulting in improved resident comfort, fewer incidents of carer injury, and more broadly efficient operation of the facility as a whole.
What’s Next for Scalabrini:
Even with the success of this project, there is much more work to be done. Scalabrini has villages located in Griffith, Bexley, Allambie Heights, and other parts of New South Wales, all of which are now candidates for the use of Guldmann Ceiling Hoists and Elsi Smart Floors, in addition to any future facilities, they may build from the success of this one.
